Unfortunately this weekend wasn't that productive for synth-related work...
So I decided to have some check on my archive of synth photos to check for something special to post about today (it should actually have been posted yesterday, my apologies for that mistake...)!
I ended up choosing to present you some photos of the insides of one of those more special synths that I am lucky to have, my EDP Wasp Special!
For those who know the original EDP Wasp, this one is basically the same synth, except the outer part is made of wood rather than cheap plastic.
For those who don't know the EDP Wasp, it's a 2 oscillator hybrid mono-synth, with a multimode filter and a touch plate keyboard.
Unfortunately my unit is not working at all, so I can't really comment that much on the sound, as I never had the luck to try a working one in person...
But from all the demos I've watched online, this seems to be a real monster with a very unique sound, so don't let the small size fool you!
I really hope to get it fixed sooner rather than latter as I'm sure it's gonna be a really nice addition to my current setup!
Luckily it doesn't seem to be too damaged on the inside, so I'm quite hopeful it should be possible to get it fixed without that much work (but I still need to get some DIY experience first before trying to get it done... this is too good of a synth for me to just screw it like that...).
It's just a shame it doesn't feature MIDI, but instead an alternative interface that is only used in EDP gear.
Fortunately there are some converters (I know that at least Kenton has some), which means that is likely going to the buying list when this synth gets fixed ;)
Any of you has some experiences to share with these little monsters? :)
That would definitely be motivating into learning more about Synth DIY ;)
From a synth lover to synth lovers. In this blog I'll try to share my personal experiences with my synths and other electronic music equipment, from personal opinions about some of the equipment I have to more technical posts, as well as some performances in the middle. If you love synths as well, make sure to tune in!
