In this blog I'll try to share my personal experiences with my synths and other electronic music equipment, from personal opinions about some of the equipment I have to more technical posts, as well as some performances in the middle.
If you love synths as well, make sure to tune in!Paulo Santoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05854776221016611574noreply@blogger.comBlogger291125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1973442850905542355.post-43082156109669456892024-03-24T19:28:00.004+00:002024-03-24T19:28:58.318+00:00CONCERT - Synth-ing's March Equinox Concert 2024!<p>At this point, I have to face it that I will never upload posts about most of the previous concerts...</p><p>Some of them I just don't remember exactly what gear I used, so it's really hard to give some details about those performances...</p><p>In fact, I'm not even 100% sure what gear I used for last NYE Concert... I think it was a Korg MS-20 setup, but again, I'm not really sure... And if I used that synth, I'm not sure what else I used with it... Probably the Electric Repeater, but could have also just used a Symbolic Sounds Kyma Capybara 320 long delay patch instead with some reverb...</p><p>So... The best thing is really to just accept that and start from scratch and put a proper post about the concert I just gave, Synth-ing's March Equinox Concert 2024!<span></span></p><a name='more'></a><p></p><p><br /></p><p>For this performance, I used only my small-ish Eurorack modular system!</p><p>If you are wondering why it sounded a but crude, that is the reason, as I don't have any reverb module in my system, and ended up not adding any external reverb...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA_uAsdORys1RS7feqSDoUAMVtoEE89eFfPOz7cQSobL5zp27XROsJvECD_jff7hvvFP5T6-HiHmm5JdEnd8-0IXavTH9ipPeAzKWH2wimdd8-B5D7mgaGt3u0oJdIjw3ewEfr62NkdB6W0xmfmOclu0OurlE1ZgB77xo87R7cH1KLaZ_RpllalTMihMk/s3264/IMG_0540.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="3264" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA_uAsdORys1RS7feqSDoUAMVtoEE89eFfPOz7cQSobL5zp27XROsJvECD_jff7hvvFP5T6-HiHmm5JdEnd8-0IXavTH9ipPeAzKWH2wimdd8-B5D7mgaGt3u0oJdIjw3ewEfr62NkdB6W0xmfmOclu0OurlE1ZgB77xo87R7cH1KLaZ_RpllalTMihMk/w640-h480/IMG_0540.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><p>Since I was patching my system during the performance, it's not easy to give a full explanation of what was happening... But I can try to give some clues on some module chains and mention the modules I used... As you'd expect, the oscillators modulate each other, but there is also some external modulations, most prominently random voltages from the Doepfer A-149-1 RCV, to keep things more interesting! There is also some further processing done by the Doepfer A-137 VC Wave Mult. or the Blue Lantern Cobalt Smelter Lab, and further modulation provided by the Doepfer A-118 Noise, A-143-3 Quad LFO and Blue Lantern ADSR (two of them) and Mini Note Computer (sadly not fully working, as the mutes don't seem to mute steps and instead affect the way the sequence progress...).</p><p>The other chains rely on more exotic modules... You can listen to the fantastic Make Noise Mysteron, which is excited by the Blue Lantern Astroid BD V4 and the same module processed by the Non Linear Circuits GIANT BONO and Delay No More. The Blue Lantern Astroid BD V4 is also heard without any any processing. And there is also the Reverse Landfill Noise module, processed by the Doepfer A-188-2 Tapped BBD Module, which generates some nice textures, particularly with lots of modulation applied, courtesy of the Doepfer A-143-1 Complex Envelope Generator / LFO and A-143-3 Quad LFO.</p><p>Everything is kept in sync thanks to the ALM Pamela Workout, which works as the main clock, along with a Blue Lantern Clock CMOS Divider, and mixed with my Doepfer A-135-1 QVCA / VCMIX, and then sent into the Blue Lantern Stereoscopic VCA, which sent the whole performance into the RME Fireface 800, for it to be streamed at <a href="https://electro-music.com">electro-music.com</a>.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5B1ep0MLuUUV-_Vy7ATGv-c44UhH-FBazyVpSTkue2hfvLngLQ-QmaB_RHagDW7-pvFcpYx3a7vg6hBYecOcASstiyj81L5SlROFTuUFTI-ul8QpFVyiiqVbtgoVjLlukrb2bI1g08U5j0AgMkZDj23o_OJu6x_EAgYtTfWgvX0utdJfPOoe2kgOT_tE/s3264/IMG_0544.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5B1ep0MLuUUV-_Vy7ATGv-c44UhH-FBazyVpSTkue2hfvLngLQ-QmaB_RHagDW7-pvFcpYx3a7vg6hBYecOcASstiyj81L5SlROFTuUFTI-ul8QpFVyiiqVbtgoVjLlukrb2bI1g08U5j0AgMkZDj23o_OJu6x_EAgYtTfWgvX0utdJfPOoe2kgOT_tE/w480-h640/IMG_0544.JPG" width="480" /></a></div><p>As you can see in the photo I posted, I left a lot of modules unused... But sadly, there were not many cables left... And to add more chains of modules, a larger mixer would have been good... Anyway, sometimes establishing some limitations can yield interesting results, and I think this concerts features quite some interesting moments!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdd5boo4VcW-kYb7iFHKsymWkHa7jMKTN8tz51-NH0IPoKUsOwAlPfumM7X5nhIWVOR49Uh6H3CaClClaUv_oZyHDYtvOA2k8uDRGYKAR8izqn4u_gvdRa5J_cSMEkkJI17r57bu-pd1ooaFLIUpp9mu2JozoVq98fDYosAzP9m5ju0B1SNIuyeGx5fDg/s3264/IMG_0542.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdd5boo4VcW-kYb7iFHKsymWkHa7jMKTN8tz51-NH0IPoKUsOwAlPfumM7X5nhIWVOR49Uh6H3CaClClaUv_oZyHDYtvOA2k8uDRGYKAR8izqn4u_gvdRa5J_cSMEkkJI17r57bu-pd1ooaFLIUpp9mu2JozoVq98fDYosAzP9m5ju0B1SNIuyeGx5fDg/w480-h640/IMG_0542.JPG" width="480" /></a></div><p>So, if you want to re-listen to it, or listen to it for the first time, all you have to do is <a href="https://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=455204#455204">click this link, where I uploaded this performance!</a></p><p><br /></p>Paulo Santoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05854776221016611574noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1973442850905542355.post-14743604269222375512024-03-23T15:28:00.005+00:002024-03-23T15:28:41.362+00:00CONCERT - March Equinox Concert in few hours (18:00 GMT)!<p>But the fun starts earlier as there will be other artists playing from 16:00 GMT onwards!</p><p>So make sure to tune in at <a href="https://electro-music.com/radio/">radio electro-music.com</a>!</p>Paulo Santoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05854776221016611574noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1973442850905542355.post-7173156365212134452023-12-31T17:16:00.002+00:002023-12-31T17:16:25.526+00:00CONCERT - NYE Concert in few hours (20:00 GMT)!<p>But you should tune in earlier, as the event is already on, with other amazing artists playing already!</p><p>Just check <a href="https://electro-music.com">electro-music.com</a>, like always, as there is where the action happens! But the journey is just starting! :D</p><span><a name='more'></a></span><p>Since I got back to the studio, the one piece of gear I spent more time with has been my old iMac G5.</p><p>It's actually not that surprising as it is the perfect computer to edit some of my synths, since it has a nice 20" screen, and plenty of software I need run on it natively, so no need to use Wine or some new third party editors (that most likely are just not as nice as the originals...).</p><p><br /></p><p>Along with a bunch of nice synth editors, there is also a very cool "vintage" DAW installed in it, Logic Pro 8!</p><p>Well, I guess it's not old enough to be called "vintage" yet, but it surely looks quite different from the current Logic Pro X!</p><p>I got this old DAW second hand some years ago, complete with box, CDs and manuals, but just ended up never doing much with it...</p><p>So now it seemed like the perfect time to start giving it some use and using it along some of the synths I want to edit with that computer!</p><p><br /></p><p>Actually, since I also have the original Korg Legacy installed in that computer (and still have the original Korg MS20ic controller for it) and Logic Pro 8 comes with a nice selection of synths and effects, I started thinking I could just try to use my Sequentix P3 to control a bunch of soft-synths in Logic and make some cool tracks that way!</p><p>It sounded like a good idea, right? </p><p>The computer isn't that powerful (it's an old iMac G5 after all), but it still can handle 8 soft-synths playing at once plus some effects, so it sounded like a good match for the Sequentix P3!</p><p><br /></p><p>After trying it a bit today, I can say it definitely seems like a good match, but it took me quite a while to be able to use this setup...</p><p>Unfortunately, Logic, or at least Logic Pro 8, isn't the most logical DAW available...</p><p>In Ableton Live 9, I would only have to check the MIDI settings to enable my MIDI interface and then choose which MIDI port and channels I wanted to use in each of my virtual instrument tracks.</p><p>With Logic Pro 8, it is quite different... You have the Environments that let you process the MIDI data that reaches the sequencer, but you can't send that MIDI data to a specific track...</p><p>Each of the tracks in Logic Pro 8 can have their own MIDI channel, but if you set different MIDI channels to the different tracks and start playing, all the tracks will play the same...</p><p>Why? Because someone thought it was a good idea to have a setting named "Auto demix by channel if multitrack recording", bury it in the Settings (in the Recording submenu, rather than in the MIDI submenu in Preferences...), and not have it active as the pre-defined setting... </p><p>All you need to do is to activate that setting and you can play something different for each of the different tracks without any problems, just change the MIDI channel and it's really easy! </p><p>If you don't, what you get is all tracks playing all the MIDI data you are sending into Logic Pro 8, and therefore, playing the same thing...</p><p>Why anyone would prefer that as the standard setting is beyond my understanding, as you could easily set everything (MIDI devices and virtual tracks) to the same MIDI channel and get the exact same result...</p><p>But unfortunately that's how it is, and it took me more than a week to find out the answer...</p><p><br /></p><p>Sorry about the "little" rant, but I'm still a bit frustrated this took so long...</p><p>Trying to search for information online is pretty hard as most of what you find ends up being for a newer version of Logic Pro, and not for this older version...</p><p>I tried to ask around in some groups, but the best I got was a suggestion to check a particular Youtube channel (which actually helped).</p><p>I couldn't find any post about this particular problem or an equivalent one, like for instance, how to use a nice MIDI controller with a keyboard split to control 2 virtual instrument tracks at once...</p><p>I am surprised, since this seems like something I'd expect most users to be interested in doing, and I had the impression Logic always had a pretty large base of users... But doesn't seem to have translated into many (any...) posts about this...</p><p><br /></p><p>The good thing is, the issue is fixed and I am now looking forward to explore Logic Pro 8 a bit more!</p><p>I am a bit worried it's not going to be that intuitive, as that issue wouldn't even be an issue with Ableton Live 9 (the interface is so clear you really know how to make it do what you need it to do...), but I hope it will be an interesting journey!</p><p>And if you happen to have the same issue, now you know how to fix it thanks to this post!</p><p>Actually, if that's the case, leave a comment, it will make me really happy to know I helped someone!</p><p><br /></p><p>I hope to get something interesting to show from this "new setup" in the next days!</p><p>Until then, keep on SYNTH-ING! :D</p>Paulo Santoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05854776221016611574noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1973442850905542355.post-573257367752812102023-07-27T22:54:00.001+01:002023-07-27T22:54:17.878+01:00FREE STUFF - Happy 727 day, with our new and free "Synth-ing’s Roland TR-727 Electronic Loops - Sample Pack"!<p>Just get it here:</p><p><a href="Synth-ing’s Roland TR-727 Electronic Loops - Sample Pack">https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/1ils5lpqal7hlrz8mzlvf/Synth-ing-s-Roland-TR-727-Electronic-Loops-Sample-Pack.zip?rlkey=ckqs8nchbss0c68znw2j0siqu&dl=0</a></p><p>I just ask that, after checking it, make sure to give me some feedback as I hope this will be the first of many sample packs from Synth-ing! :D</p><p>Also, there are some notes about the licensing in there, but just the usual stuff, so if you made a success with those samples, all the money is yours!</p><p>Hope you all enjoy it! :D</p>Paulo Santoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05854776221016611574noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1973442850905542355.post-28550096129875141812023-04-10T17:43:00.005+01:002023-04-10T17:43:50.814+01:00YOUTUBE - Synth-ing's new sound logo is out now! :DAnd you can listen to it in Youtube! :D<div><br /></div><div><iframe frameborder="0" height="270" src="https://youtube.com/embed/mmDKhz9lkVM" style="background-image: url(https://i.ytimg.com/vi/mmDKhz9lkVM/hqdefault.jpg);" width="480"></iframe></div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div><br /></div><div>Make sure to listen and let me know what you think! :D</div><div><br /></div><div>I know it's a disappointing that it is so short, however, that's the nature of the sound logos... </div><div>But if you really enjoy the patch, I might do a longer demo showing it off! :)</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Taken from the description of the video...</div><div><br /></div><div>"</div><div>This was originally created for the Wikimedia Sound Logo contest, but it wasn't selected, so now it becomes the first Synth-ing sound logo! :D</div><div><br /></div><div>To create this sound logo I used my Clavia Nord Modular synth and created a "Shepard tone" patch with it.</div><div>This "Shepard tone" oscillator is then shaped by an envelope and filter before the signal is sent to a Shimmer reverb provided by an Eventide Space. </div><div>A simple C chord (the most used one it seems) is played for a short while, with the sound then being sustained by the reverb. </div><div><br /></div><div>This sound logo would have been a bit longer, and with a different ending, but for that contest there was a rule stating it couldn't be over 4 seconds (seems it was actually up to 4.99 seconds, rather than more than no more than 4.00 seconds...), so I ended up doing some volume adjustments to make sure it respected the rules... </div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway, I think it sounds nice, and is definitely good enough to be Synth-ing's first sound logo! :D </div><div>"</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Paulo Santoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05854776221016611574noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1973442850905542355.post-57921288007013205612023-04-08T14:58:00.002+01:002023-04-08T14:58:17.967+01:00MEANWHILE - Third time is the charm, right?<div>I had two of these before... I am not entirely sure the Prophet emulation is exactly the same, but it sounds great anyway!</div><div>Sure, the interface is not as immediate to create new sounds, but that doesn't mean it's too hard to come up with new sounds... </div><div>Yes, you need to go thru different pages to fully edit your sounds, but since you have 4 knobs under the screen, it's completely fine, despite dedicated knobs would always be a better option (but one that wouldn't really make sense considering you have different synths available in the Creamware Noah).<br /><br /></div><div>Another thing I didn't really enjoy with the Creamware ASB Pro 12 is that the interface doesn't really feel like a whole... </div><div>You have an interface to create your synth sounds, with dedicated knobs, and then you have another interface for the rest that is quite cryptic... </div><div>In practice, it didn't really matter, because I always chose to bypass the effects and use external effects units instead. </div><div>But if I wanted to edit my effects, it just didn't feel as simple as editing the synth sounds.</div><div><br /></div><div>And last but not least, you couldn't really store your sounds in a computer using Sysex... </div><div>You needed to use Creamware's own software, which would only run on old computers, or you couldn't transfer your sounds at all (at least I couldn't find a way to do that), which was seriously annoying...</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>For all that, and also because I know I would love to eventually get a real Sequential Prophet 5 / 10, I felt it was the right choice back then to sell it!</div><div><br /></div><div>However, it is definitely a synth I can totally recommend!</div><div>If you want a portable synth that is easy to program and with a great sound, it definitely fits the bill!</div><div>And if you want that Sequential Prophet 5 / 10 sound and don't want to pay as much (you should be able to find one for less than 1/3 of the price of a brand new Sequential Prophet 10 module), it should also be a great choice, but again, I haven't compared both...</div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway, I know I definitely wouldn't mind getting another one, if I found a great opportunity!</div><div>But since I am not gigging around (my concerts are all performed in the studio), to really benefit from having a light desktop unit, unless I really find a great opportunity, I think it would be better to just get the real deal... Finally! :D</div>Paulo Santoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05854776221016611574noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1973442850905542355.post-35910665736067173312023-03-30T20:41:00.001+01:002023-03-30T20:42:35.773+01:00MEANWHILE - Roland Boutiques... <div>I know it has been a while since I posted anything other than a concert announcement, or worse, a RIP post... But since I recently had a Roland Boutique JD-08 on loan, I felt I should just post something new in this blog!<a name='more'></a><br />For full disclosure, this was the first time I tried a Roland Boutique, but my impression of this line was always far from good...</div><div><br />It's not that I don't think it's a great idea to re-issue some great classic synths, cause I honestly support that, especially from a company like Roland, as they have so many amazing classic synths and drum machines, being them analog or digital!<br /><br /></div><div>I also have no problem that all of the Boutiques (except the SE-02 they did in collaboration with the Studio Electronics) are digital, cause there have been amazing digital emulations from other analog classics done by other companies (namely, Creamware with their ASB line). </div><div>As long as it sounds good, I don't care if it's analog or digital!<br /><br /></div><div>My real issue with the Boutiques is the format Roland chose, as they always seemed so tiny and almost toyish...<br /><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>In my honest opinion, Roland should have done them in a similar fashion to what Creamware did with their ASB line!</div><div><br /></div><div>If you checked my <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@synth-ing4986">Youtube channel</a>, you probably noticed my videos for the amazing Creamware ASB Pro 12, which I honestly think has everything you could hope for in a digital emulation, namely:</div><div>- The sound is really amazing, I'm not sure how close it compares to the Sequential Prophet 5, but according to some posts I've seen, it seems it got closer to that sound than the analog Dave Smith Instruments Prophet 08;</div><div>- The interface is great, faithful to the one you have in the Sequential Prophet 5, and there is plenty of space between the knobs, so that makes it a true joy to edit the sounds;</div><div>- It is a nice amount of polyphony, 12 notes, which is actually more than what you find even in the Sequential Prophet 10;</div><div>- It is compact and light enough to be pretty portable!</div><div><br /></div><div>When you look at the Roland Boutiques, my impression was always that the interface is too cramped up for you to really enjoy editing your sounds...</div><div>On the other hand, that allows them to be more compact and light, which in turn makes them more portable, if that is important to you... To me, it's not...</div><div><br /></div><div>Also, the fact that the original Roland Boutiques offered only 4 notes of polyphony, less than the polyphony offered by the original units they intended to emulate, gave a pretty underwhelming first impression, especially when you consider that the Creamware ASB units, considerably older, offered 12 notes of polyphony!</div><div>Fortunately, that seems to have changed and more recent units feature much higher amounts of polyphony, despite the exact amount depends on the model...</div><div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a width="640" /></a></div></div><div><br /></div><div>Moving fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, I finally had the chance to try my first Roland Boutique, a Roland Boutique JD-08!</div><div><br /></div><div>My friend had just tested it a bit, so it was virtually new, still in the original box!</div><div>I have to say the package is really nice, especially if you want to keep the synth stored in it!</div><div>Unfortunately, it doesn't come with a USB cable and my friend forgot to add one, so I had to use it with batteries only (no extra USB-C cable here...) and couldn't actually try to record with it using the USB connection, something I was really wanting to try...</div><div><br /></div><div>The first thing I could notice when taking it out of the box was that it actually felt quite sturdy, probably due to the nice top panel in metal!</div><div>I know it isn't really a fair comparison, since the price tag is quite different, but compared to the Modal Craftsynth V2.0 and Skulpt SE I have, made with plastic, the Roland JD-08 felt much sturdier!</div><div>It might be pretty compact, but it definitely didn't feel toyish like I was afraid it would!</div><div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div>However, not everything was amazing, and my fear that the interface was too cramped up was proven right...</div><div><br /></div><div>The sliders they used are really really tiny, to the point that they didn't feel as nice as they should when editing the sounds...</div><div>And I think that's quite a shame, because if they had chosen the ones they used for the 4 Palette sliders as the standard slider, it would have felt so much better!</div><div><br /></div><div>The buttons felt quite nice, even for trying the sounds, but the cryptic screen was definitely a disappointment...</div><div>And so was the internal speaker, as the sound you get from it is just not comparable to the sound you get using nice headphones!</div><div><br /></div><div>Overall, trying it made sure my original impression was right and that at least this Roland Boutique would have benefitted from a different larger format!</div><div><br /></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBcOeDoBg1Nuvluy8D3YKgStYG0G-hnAE6O5aQgIx2qsDF5rbbM5V3kSsWzgI78yDhipccAReNlXeCU474-GYHtHnYFm3TA-e_FPqlVml_p3XAsITFKqnq4qXBdoqeVJp_wbiCpYmRQ3vdvas2NAKeXnUmaOAYEkbp2G3ob0jpmKtu-YyfaDYRFYRV/s3264/IMG_9256.JPG" width="640" /></a></div></div><div><br /></div><div>And how does it sound, you might ask?</div><div><br /></div><div>Honestly, I felt it is a good sounding synth, giving you some nice old ROMpler sounds that you can easily tweak and transform into completely different sounds thanks to a versatile synthesis architecture!</div><div><br /></div><div>How does it compare with the original Roland JD-800, I can't say as I never tried one...</div><div>But quite honestly, I hope it doesn't sound the same because I honestly didn't feel the Roland JD-08 to be a "magical" unit...</div><div><br /></div><div>If you search for the Roland JD-800, you'll find many claiming it has an amazing sound and that is probably the ultimate pad machine, but honestly, if it sounds like the Roland JD-08, I don't think it has anything over a Korg Wavestation or Yamaha SY-77, for instance, two synths from the same period which can be bought for much less...</div><div><br /></div><div>The Roland JD-08 is a good sounding ROMpler, but what sets it apart, in my opinion, is really the interface that invites you to create your own sounds, not the fantastic sound quality it offers!</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>So, did I feel GAS for a Roland JD-08?</div><div><br /></div><div>I think I did, even with all the "flaws" I pointed out, it gives you a very interesting package, as there isn't any other ROMpler I can think of that is as easy to edit!</div><div><br /></div><div>And quite honestly, that is probably one of the reasons why I didn't play more with it...</div><div>I knew the more I would use it, the more I would want one, and right now, that really isn't the best idea as there is other gear I need more for my setup...</div><div><br /></div><div>But I definitely would like to get one sooner or later, despite I know later it will be harder as someone will claim it's a collectible and then the prices will go insane after it is discontinued...</div><div>So I might never get one, which is perfectly fine... :)</div><div><br /></div><div>But ultimately, it also made me even more curious about the original Roland JD-800, as I'm really wondering if they actually nailed the sound...</div><div>Is there really some character in the sound that is missing from the Roland JD-08, or is it just really overhyped because of the nice interface?</div><div>Would be nice to find out... :)</div>Paulo
